Your MCP key is what lets Claude, ChatGPT or any other AI tool talk to your Ellipsend account. Treat it like a password.
Create a Key
1. In Ellipsend, go to Settings, then Integrations, and click the MCP card.
2. The first time you open it, you'll be asked to accept the MCP terms of use. Read them, check the box, and turn MCP on.
3. On the MCP API Toolkit page, click Create API Key.
4. Give the key a name you'll recognize, like "Claude". Setting an Expiration is optional. Click Generate Key.
5. Copy the key and keep it somewhere safe, like your password manager. Ellipsend copies it for you automatically, but you won't be able to see it again after you click I've Saved My Key.
One Key Per Tool
Make a separate key for each tool you connect, like one for Claude and one for ChatGPT. Then if you stop using one, you can delete its key without breaking the others.
Lost or Leaked Key
You can't view a key again once it's made. If you've lost one, or think someone else has it, click the trash icon next to it on the MCP API Toolkit page and create a new one. Anything using the old key stops working right away, so reconnect it with the new key.
